With more than 10 years of experience in various competition matters, ranging from litigation to compliance, Wisnu is regarded as a seasoned competition lawyer. He has handled almost all aspects of the Indonesian competition law, including cartels, abuse of dominance, bid-rigging, vertical and distribution agreements before the Indonesian Competition Commission (KPPU) and various courts.
A large part of his experience with the KPPU stemmed from handling significant merger cases, especially involving the filing of notifications. An illustration of Wisnu’s experience involved the enforcement by the KPPU of its relatively new authority to monitor partnership (kemitraan) agreements between large enterprises and small and medium enterprises (SME), where Wisnu successfully dropped one of the first KPPU investigations.
Meanwhile, in the consumer law arena, Wisnu regularly provides advice in relation to product liability, product labelling, advertising, warranty, and other aspects of consumer law.
Wisnu’s clients come from a broad variety of sectors, including technology, e-commerce, automotive, telecommunication, pharmaceutical, aviation, energy, shipping and consumer goods. In addition, he has also advised state-owned enterprises and government bodies in Indonesia.
Passionate about the development of competition law, Wisnu is one of the initiators of the Indonesian Competition Lawyers Association (ICLA), a vibrant professional society advocating the development and awareness of competition law, including active participation in the amendment of the Indonesian Competition Law. He also volunteered at the Indonesian Competition & Consumer Law Society (ICCC), a non-profit and non-governmental institution, where he was involved in drafting competition guidelines in the Indonesian upstream oil and gas for Indonesia’s Upstream Oil and Gas regulatory body (BPMIGAS).
Outside of his legal practice, Wisnu has acted as a facilitator in many competition compliance training programs, in addition to contributing to notable publications, such as the Cartels and Leniency Review, 7th Edition (2019) published by Law Business Research, London.
